Frequently Asked Questions

Learn the answers to some of our most commonly asked questions

Can WE get you a job?

No, we are just the trainers. It will be up to you to look for a job on the many high-rise construction jobs in BC and Canada.

What do I need for the course?

Students need to have their own PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) which includes steel toe boots, hard hat, and a safety vest. Another item of clothing you may want to consider is a raincoat and jacket as you will be outside at times in the elements. Also, a note pad/pen for taking notes. Prepayment is also required for taking the course. The course needs to be paid in full at least a week before.

How long is the license good for?

License is only good for 1 year. It can be renewed BEFORE it expires through Technical Safety BC. If the license is not renewed, then you’ll have to retake the course.

How often are the courses and how long are they?

Courses are taught once a month based on booking volume. Check back with us regularly for updates. They run for 7 hours a day. 8-3:30pm since there’s a 30 minute lunch break.

Who books the exam at Technical Safety BC?

Each student is responsible for booking their own exam AFTER passing this course. They can apply through this link.

How much is the Technical Safety BC Exam?

Approximately $150.

What happens if I fail?

Students are allowed to retake the course up to two times. First retake is $300, second is free. If a student does not pass after the second retake, they will be deemed unfit to be a hoist operator.

Is the school transit accessible?

Yes, it’s on Fraser Highway which has bus stops all along it.

Will information on inside elevators be covered?

We will briefly touch base on inside elevators; however, it’s not the main subject for the course. There is enough information to write the inside elevator exam once you go to write your exam for Technical Safety BC.

How do I register?

Please call or preferably email alek@tallcrane.ca .  Prepayment is required to secure a spot in class. We accept checks, cash, credit, and debit.

Cancellation Policy:
